Project Overview:
When a long-time customer in Edmond, OK called about a tree that had begun leaning more than usual, our certified arborist team responded immediately. Upon inspection, we noticed ground heaving and other clear signs that the tree had shifted. Rather than recommending immediate removal, we took a more strategic approach to preserve the tree’s structure and sentimental value.
The homeowner shared memories of his children climbing and swinging in this tree—a reminder of how meaningful a mature tree can be to a family. With that in mind, we focused on stabilization, pruning, and plant health care (PHC) to give this tree the best chance to thrive safely for years to come.
Our Approach:

Weight Reduction Pruning (30–40%)
We carefully reduced the canopy weight to relieve pressure from the leaning side. This selective pruning was performed by our ISA Certified Arborist to balance structural integrity while maintaining the tree’s natural form.

Dynamic Bracing Installation
We installed a 2-ton dynamic bracing system connecting the leaning tree to a neighboring, stable tree. This system provides essential support as the leaning tree settles while allowing natural movement.
Importantly, the dynamic setup ensures that in the event of a major windstorm, the brace will fail before causing damage to the neighboring tree. -
Tree Growth Regulator & Root Zone Treatment
To promote root development and reduce canopy stress, we applied a tree growth regulator (TGR) along with a custom nutrient soil injection. These treatments slow canopy extension while strengthening the root system—essential steps in long-term tree health care (PHC).
Results:
The combination of professional pruning, dynamic bracing, and PHC treatments provided the tree with stability and improved vitality. While the lean remains noticeable, the structural risks have been greatly reduced, and the homeowner is thrilled to see the tree safely preserved.
